Job description

Please see attached Job description for full details The successful candidate will be joining a team of over 70 experienced Nurse Practitioners, qualified nurses and health care assistants who see and treat in excess of 40,000 patients across both sites each year and you will be responsible for assessing, diagnosing and treating children with a wide range of clinical conditions which will include both medical and trauma cases. You will work alongside ENPs, consultants and junior doctors from a range of training programmes including Paediatric Emergency medicine, paediatrics and adult emergency medicine. To coordinate the delivery and development of the specialist service throughthe use of effective evidence based practice in line with agreed national standards for patient safety and monitoring. To contribute to the organisation of multidisciplinary, patient centred care. To be accountable for the planning and delivery of all aspects of patient carein relation to dedicated pathways of care, working as an autonomous practitioner. To support the development and implementation of best practice within thespeciality. To provide a specialist nursing role in the assessment and management of aspecific patient group. To continuously improve clinical care standards in line with the clinical governanceframework. To exercise accountability set out in the Nursing and Midwifery Council Code(NMC,2015). Provide education and training to clinical staff within City Hospitals Sunderland (CHS). Provide specialist clinical advice and support to patients and clinical staff withinCHS & STDH on the management and care of patients within specialist area. To provide direct access for patients either face to face or telephoneconsultation. To represent the service nationwide. To play a key role in ensuring that national and local standards/targets forspecialist area are met. To manage/lead nurse led clinics in relation to reviewing patients and play a key role in optimising complex treatment regimes, facilitating hospital discharge. and preventing avoidable hospital admissions To undertake research relevant to the needs of specialist area.
