Technique Recruitment Solutions is working alongside a leading provider of custom engineering solutions to the energy industry. Our customer's expertise is in designing, engineering, maintaining,
installing, testing and commissioning high-voltage substations, electrical transmission and distribution systems. Working within their new premises in Norwich they have a number of new opportunities for Control Panel Wire Persons to join their expanding team. This is an exciting opportunity for an expanding company with lots of future opportunity for development and career progression.
You will be working within the Norwich facility and will also be site based work throughout the UK when required, approximately 50/50
Successful candidates will have experience with control panel wiring and be competent with reading drawings and schematics.
As a Panel Wire Person you will play a crucial role in the assembly, wiring, and testing of electrical control panels used in power transmission and distribution equipment. Your work will contribute to the safe and efficient operation of our high voltage systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assemble and wire electrical control panels according to engineering specifications and wiring diagrams.
- Select, measure, and cut wires to appropriate lengths and strip insulation for termination.
- Route, bundle, and secure wiring neatly within control panels to ensure proper organization and functionality.
- Install and connect control devices, such as relays, switches, and circuit breakers, within panels.
- Perform quality checks and tests, such as continuity and resistance checks, to ensure accurate wiring and proper functioning.
- Collaborate with engineers and electricians to support panel design improvements and modifications.
- Interpret electrical and engineering drawings, specifications, and layouts for panel wiring tasks.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and inventory necessary for panel assembly and wiring.
- Adhere to safety protocols and industry regulations to ensure a safe working environment.
- Document completed panel assemblies and maintain accurate records of work performed.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Proven experience as a Panel Wire Person or similar role, preferably in high voltage systems.
- Sound knowledge of electrical controls and components used in power distribution equipment.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical and engineering drawings and schematics.
- Familiarity with electrical codes, regulations, and safety procedures.
- Experience in wiring control panels and using electrical hand tools.
- Detail-oriented mindset with the ability to work with precision and accuracy.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot wiring issues.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
