Part-Time Remote Working- Handbag Designer

Main Duties

Job Spec:  We are a leading supplier has quickly become a competitive supplier in the design and development of fashion handbags. Through our continuous market research and our own in house design team, we are able to offer exciting new designs to our customers.

Please note this job is a 4 days/ role working remotely from home/ attending customer meetings and travelling doing market research etc.

The Role:  Successful candidate will be trend aware and have strong eye for hand bag design. You will be designing for Key High Street retailers in the UK market to create capsule collections for our clients on their own brands. You will be working closely with the owner, Sales Account Manager and Management and Merchandiser and the Far East Teams to plan, create and develop the range. This is an exciting opportunity to join a great company on a Full- Time basis working remotely to work within an inspiring and hard working team that is owned by an inspirational and passionate owners. Your responsibilities include but not limited to interpreting cat-walk trends, ability to translate and fit them into brand’s identity. Competitive shopping, research and development including compiling mood boards and colour pallets, plan, create and execute exciting ranges. The ideal candidate must be able to draw by hand and also be proficient in Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop and have strong experience in designing handbags to meet our customers requirements.

Skills and Experience Required

• Position Requirements:
• Strong interpretation of trends into commercial designs.
• Must be a team player.
• Gathering & using relevant internal and external information to drive product and range development for the customer.
• Developing the product strategy in conjunction with the Buyers which can then be translated into specific products for a range.
• Following product development through from brief to production guided by Business Development Manager.
• Constantly developing the range with our customers and our Far East Team to ensure it evolves and continues to meet the needs of the customers.
• Travelling overseas on development trips.(If required only)
• Attend meetings with Sales Account Manager and Management
• Reporting to the company owner via weekly Teams or WeChat meetings ect.
• Must have established knowledge in bag design and construction.
• Experience using PU, Sustainable PU and Materials, designing metal components and have an understanding of pricing involved to create various handbags.
• An understanding and passion for emerging bag trends,
• Appetite for our key design influences.
• Ability to strongly interpret trends into designs.
• Ability to create original concepts.
• Strong hand-drawing skills.
• Must have experience in handbags design only
• Must have experience designing for Key High Street Accounts-(PRIMARK and RIVER ISLAND act)
• Used to working to timescales and brief requirements and taking responsibility for work.
• Experience in managing the ranges from start to finish with clear understanding of customer demographics.
• An eye for identifying trends and translating into commercial designs.
• Sound knowledge of handbag construction and ability to put specs together.
• You will report to Business Development Manager and additional Key figures of the company.
• Confident CAD skills required.
• Experience in liaising with manufacturers and suppliers.
