7 month fixed term maternity cover contract starting ASAP in the new year
We are seeking to recruit a Senior Parliamentary Assistant (Maternity Cover) to join a small team based in Westminster. The role would involve working from the parliamentary office, with flexibility to work from home on select days. (typically 2 or 3 days per week)
Key responsibilities
- Responding to enquiries by email, telephone and post
- Managing and progressing constituents’ case work, drafting letters on MP’s behalf for signing/sending
- Liaising with government agencies, local authorities, third party organisations and others to resolve constituents' problems
- Ownership of MPs diary commitments incl liaison with constituency office
- Office management and admin ensuring office is fully equipped and files managed according to Data Protection Act
- Liaising with groups/personnel at Westminster, within the constituency and general public on MP’s and colleagues’ behalf
The successful candidate will be educated to degree level and be able to demonstrate the following:
- Excellent written, interpersonal, organisational and IT skills
- Exceptional writing skills in order to draft correspondence on behalf of the MP (previous correspondence admin experience essential)
- An ability to manage a large workload without compromising on standards
- Empathy and kindness
- Discretion
- A team player with a good sense of humour
- Ideally security cleared for an immediate start
