About the Role

The School of Events, Enterprise and Employability offers a wide range of study programmes and apprenticeship opportunities to both 16-18 and 19+ learners who are looking to pursue a career in Events, Marketing, Customer Service and Business sustainability. Our course offers range from Level 1, for learners who may be applying to college with limited previous experience of qualifications through to Level 3 Extended programmes of study which enable students to progress to higher education or supervisory positions within industry.

We’re looking for a dedicated individual to provide tailored support to our learners within the Events, Enterprise and Employability Department. In this role, you will be committed to making a positive difference to young people’s lives whilst supporting and developing their learning. Your mentoring, academic support, and pastoral support will help enable an outstanding learning environment for our learners, providing the interventions they need to succeed.

What You Will Do

Support a “case load” of students across the Events, Enterprise and Employability department.

Give academic support, extra encouragement, mentoring and pastoral support to all students inside and outside the classroom.

Work with teaching staff to support the achievement of excellent outcomes for each student.

Support teaching staff where individual student behaviour within a group is impacting on the learning of the group as a whole.

Assist in the induction of the students into the curriculum and college life.

About You

Q1. Good general education at NVQ level 2 or equivalent including literacy & numeracy at Level 2

Q3. Basic Skills awareness training or qualification

Q4. Appropriate training and / or a willingness to undertake training in supporting the needs of disengaged / disadvantaged students who may have emotional and behaviour problems

EK1. Experience of working/dealing with students, particularly age 16+

EK2. Experience of working with disengaged / disadvantaged young people in an educational setting

EK3. Experience in supporting a tutor group and/or lessons as required

SC1. Good standard of computer literacy, including Microsoft Office applications

SC2. Some knowledge of barriers to learning and ways to overcome them, particularly with disaffected young people
