Job description

AWE are currently looking for Pastoral Care Manager to provide care and oversight of the apprentice body, to ensure their welfare, attitude to learning and attendance.

This job role will provide thorough support for our apprentice community in successfully completing their apprenticeship programmes. This role will centralise and standardise the line management of all of our apprentices and provide them with a focused person for support.

Location - Reading / Basingstoke area

Package - £34,400 (depending on your suitability and level of experience)

You will be required to:

  • Work alongside the respective technical instructors, and academy management, on all matters relating to the Pastoral Care of students, with a particular focus on vulnerable leaners
  • Promote excellent attendance and punctuality of all students through the development of close working relationships with students and instructional staff
  • Work alongside the safeguarding team to ensure students are within a safe environment during their apprentice programme
  • Monitor behaviour and apply a range of intervention strategies where necessary to support both apprentices and instructors
  • Be highly visible within the apprentice academy, and be open to interaction with apprentices on an as needed basis
  • To develop and maintain effective working relationships with the internal academy team and key external stakeholders to ensure timely communications and escalations where necessary
  • Work with the academy Learning Support Specialist to ensure each apprentice has access to appropriate support to ensure the maximum value from the learning opportunity is realised
  • To be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to Safeguarding; being vigilant for signs and reporting these
  • To act in accordance with the Data Protection Act and maintain confidentiality at all times

To be considered for this role, you'll need:

  • Proven leadership and management experience
  • Ability to communicate at all levels
  • Good organisational skills
  • Ability to problem solve
  • Able to multi-task and prioritise workload to meet conflicting demands
  • Good attention to detail
  • Experience of working with young adults

Candidates must be willing and able to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance for the role.
