Job Title: Pastoral Lead
Salary: Depending on experience
Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent
Reporting to: Head Teacher
Responsible for: Behaviour, Attendance, Learning Outside of the Classroom (LOTC), Enrichment

Main Purpose: The Pastoral Lead, under the direction of the Head Teacher, will create a purposeful, caring learning environment for children, applying high professional standards of pastoral care and support for emotional, behavioural, and learning needs to ensure each child achieves their full potential.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Strategic Development of Pastoral Provision:
Have a strategic overview of pastoral provision for all pupils.
Act as the Educational Visits Coordinator.
Achieve and maintain LOTC accreditations.
Record and monitor attendance.
Coordinate enrichment activities.
Coordinate nurture and wellbeing.
Coordinate first aid and medication procedures.
Operation of the Pastoral Provision:
Assist in the induction of newly-admitted pupils.
Aid in the implementation, monitoring, and review of programs designed to support individual pupils' social and academic development.
Assist pupils in dealing with behavioural and/or emotional difficulties.
Take necessary steps to ensure the protection of young people from neglect, abuse, and exploitation.
Liaise effectively with outside partners as necessary, attending reviews and other meetings.
Support the creation and fulfillment of daily pastoral care systems and rotas (e.g., breaks, lunchtimes, etc.).
Keep appropriate records and report as necessary.
Coordinate pupil attendance, including creating weekly and monthly reports and developing attendance plans when necessary.
Ensure that Behaviour Support Plans for young people are kept up-to-date.
Support for Pupils:
Ensure all young people are treated with dignity and respect, fostering an environment that reflects their importance and right to be valued.
Provide a high standard of personal, physical care for children, focusing on safety, health, and hygiene.
Administer medication and maintain appropriate records.
Undertake activities with individuals or small groups to facilitate their physical, emotional, and educational development.
Greet young people upon entrance and exit of the school.
Provide support during less structured times of the day.
Liaise with young people regarding behavior, including the reward shop.
Leadership and Management:
Work with the Head Teacher and Governance Committee to ensure the school meets its responsibilities under the Equality Act 2010.
Contribute to the school improvement plan and whole-school policy.
Lead and manage the Pastoral Support Team.
Lead on the performance management of Pastoral Support Assistants.
Maintain and develop break time resources, coordinating their use and monitoring effectiveness.
Ensure paperwork is compliant (e.g., RPI recording, conducting debrief meetings, and lesson learned).
Other Areas of Responsibility:
Act as the LOTC/Educational Visits Coordinator.
The Pastoral Lead will be required to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people, following school policies and the staff code of conduct. The post holder may be required to do other duties appropriate to the level of the role, as directed by the Head Teacher.
