A large mainstream secondary school in Birmingham are looking for a Pastoral Support Assistant to join the schools wider Pastoral Team.

Your role will be to assist and support Key Stage 3 and 4 students with behavioural challenges and social, emotional and mental health needs.

To be successful in this role, you will need to show a commitment and enthusiasm to work with young children and their families, possess the knowledge of safeguarding policies and procedures, a confident and positive approach, ability to uphold the schools behavioural policy, have excellent behavioural management skills and excellent communication skills.

This is a temporary post, with the opportunity of becoming a long-term placement for the right candidate.

Key responsibilities:

-        Working closely with the schools SENDCo and wider teaching team

-        Provide 1-1 and small group support to students who have challenging behaviour

-        Be proactive with encourage and enforcing the schools behavioural policy

-        Promoting student well-being

-        Encourage learning

-        Helping students to overcome barriers to learning

-        Providing general classroom cover when required
