Pastoral Support Officer
  • Job Type: Full-time/Part-time

We are inviting applications for the role of Pastoral Support Officer at our secondary school in Wakefield. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting pupil behaviour, welfare, and attendance, under the guidance of senior staff. We are looking for someone who is flexible, responsive, and committed to creating a nurturing environment that promotes both educational and personal growth.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Collaborate with Pastoral Intervention Mentors to develop and deliver preventative and early intervention strategies.
  • Make appropriate referrals to specialist services and agencies to support pupil welfare.
  • Assist in times of crisis by working with mentors to support pupils in regulating their behaviour.
  • Utilise TeamTeach and other strategies effectively to improve pupil behaviour and welfare.
  • Engage with pupils and their families to foster a supportive environment conducive to educational and personal development.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in a pastoral or welfare role within an educational setting.
  • Knowledge of behavioural management strategies, including TeamTeach.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a range of services and agencies.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with pupils and families.
  • A strong commitment to the welfare and development of pupils.
