Join Our Team as a Hand Line Pasty Crimper!

We are looking for Trainee Production Operatives (Pasty Crimpers) to join our friendly and expanding Production teams! Starting salary is £12.10 per hour with an enhanced rate of £15.13 (for hours over 37.5 per week and between 20:00 – 06:00). We have vacancies on our day shift working Monday to Friday from 09:00-17:30 (with 2 x 30 mins unpaid breaks).

Key Responsibilities:

• Pasty Production: As a Hand Line Pasty Crimper, your role is to produce an impressive 4 crimped pasties per minute, depending on the size of the pasty.
• Crimping Process: Your precision is essential as you remove pre-filled pastry bases from the line, fold the base over the fill, and then ensuring an even distribution of the filling. You'll then perform a series of 18-22 small folds around the edge of the product to create the classic Cornish D-shaped pasty with a hand-crimped crust.
• Quality Control: You need to be vigilant about product build-up and pre-emptively remove any excess bases if too many uncrimped pasties pass through. Quality is paramount in our production.
• Work Environment: You have the flexibility to choose whether you'd like to stand or sit throughout your shift. Feel free to engage in conversations with your fellow team members, sing along to the radio, or work quietly, according to your preference.
• Team Support: You'll be part of a close-knit team with a dedicated team leader always available to provide help and guidance.
• Nail Care: Clean, short nails are important for efficient crimping. We recommend working without gloves to ensure the best results.
• Training Program: Never crimped a pasty before? No worries! We provide comprehensive training. You'll undergo a 4-week training program that prioritizes quality, turning you into a pasty-crimping pro in no time.
