Job Title: Patient Safety Officer

Pay: £16.71 per hour

Location: Croydon Hospital, CR7 7YE

About the Trust

Croydon Health Services NHS Trust is part of the National Health Service (NHS) and was formed in July 2010 with the integration of Mayday Healthcare NHS Trust with Croydon Community Health Services. Croydon Health Services provides integrated NHS services to care for people at home, in schools, and health clinics across the borough as well as at Croydon University Hospital and Purley War Memorial Hospital.

What you'll be responsible for:

  • Support the collation of documentary evidence needed to support any external assessment in relation to Patient Safety.
  • Support actions identified and undertaken to decrease the risk of incidents occurring and to improve outcomes in relation to people who use our service, their families or careers, staff and visitor safety.
  • Effective liaison and communication with all Trust staff in relation to Patient Safety policies, procedures and guidelines ensuring that all staff are aware of their responsibilities
  • Monitor and ensure the Patient Safety sections of the Trust's intranet and internet sites are up to date. Ensure the pages provide relevant and up to date information for staff, patients and the public on quality and Patient Safety issues.
  • Collate and analyse quantitative and qualitative information to facilitate clinician reflection on clinical practice and service, supporting implementation of good practice and quality improvements for patients.
  • Support management in the identification of areas of risk and the development of actions to reduce/ mitigate against the risk occurring or re-occurring.

You'll learn the following whilst working at the trust:

  1. An in depth understanding of the roles and responsibilities involved in working within the NHS
  2. Knowledge of the systems used, to effectively complete your role to the highest standard at all times
  3. A sense of teamwork, gained through working alongside and supporting colleagues from all levels, within the organisation

You'll have the following skills/experience:

  • Excellent communication skills- both verbal and written
  • Microsoft office skills- Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
  • Previous NHS experience
  • Previous admin experience
  • NHS System Knowledge- Radar Reporting System
  • Patient Safety Officer Experience

This role may require you to show evidence of education to Degree level or at least 2 years relevant experience.
