Job Title: Payments Lawyer
Job Type: 6-months contract

JP Morgan, a global leader in financial services, is seeking an experienced Payments Lawyer to join their dynamic team in London. This role offers the opportunity to provide legal services and advice to a business that delivers a full suite of wholesale and e-Commerce payment solutions to clients worldwide. The successful candidate will enjoy working within a well-established team of professionals, with extensive training provided upon joining and continued support thereafter. This position presents a unique opportunity to work on a wide range of regulatory and compliance issues, daily business support, drafting, and negotiation of JP Morgan's Payments product and services agreements.

What you'll do:
As a Payments Lawyer at JP Morgan, you will play an integral role in providing legal services to the Payments business. You will be responsible for advising on products and services, negotiating contracts, updating template agreements, liaising with external counsel, providing coordinated legal advice across complex issues, collaborating with global teams to resolve complex issues, and developing policies and procedures. Your role will also involve interpreting existing laws, rules, regulations, scheme rules, and advising on changes thereto.
* Provide legal advice on products and services, including contract negotiation and documentation
* Update template agreements and documents as required
* Liaise with external counsel on transactional and bespoke product matters, including review and analysis of legal opinions
* Provide and coordinate legal advice across complex issues for the products or lines of business supported
* Collaborate with global business teams, legal/compliance colleagues, and other control functions to address and resolve complex issues
* Develop policies, procedures, and training materials to advance business objectives in a compliant manner
What you bring:
The ideal candidate for the Payments Lawyer role at JP Morgan brings significant post-admission legal practising experience along with a law degree. They would possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills coupled with outstanding organisational abilities. They would have excellent verbal and written communication skills which allow them to effectively communicate both with legal professionals as well as non-legal professionals.
* A minimum of three years post-admission legal practising experience
* Law degree with compliance with all relevant licensing requirements
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
* Outstanding organisational and project management skills
* Ability to manage multiple complex matters simultaneously
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
