Payroll Implementations Support
Fixed term contract until December 2024
£30,000
Purpose of role:
As the Payroll Implementations Support within the Finance Shared Service Centre, you will be working directly with the Payroll Technical Lead to support the testing and successful implementation of our new HRIS system. You will work closely with project and BAU teams to support transition plans, ensuring a smooth and successful go-live period, ensuring that all data is managed and maintained in accordance with the Data Protection Regulations (GDPR). You will support the project team meeting governance controls including Payroll audits, sign offs, security routines.
Key responsibilities

  • Support the payroll technical lead and core HRIS implementation project team to achieve the successful implementation and transition to the new HRIS system
  • Support the UAT period with collating and testing data.
  • Supporting user acceptance testing queries
  • Support parallel pay runs, identifying and reconciling discrepancies.
  • Support the business as usual team (BAU) into go live
  • Support the delivery of training to the BAU team
  • Support with input on training procedures
  • Support with identifying areas for improvement with processes
  • Raise concerns or risks and offer solutions
  • Support queries for the Business Analyst.
  • Ensure legislative requirements (including GDPR) are met.
  • Uphold accuracy and attention to detail in all aspects of payroll operations.


Person Specification

  • Current knowledge of UK payroll.
  • Understanding of benefits, pensions, statutory payments, tax calculations and deductions.
  • Good IT skills, including an understanding of data reporting and proficiency in navigating payroll systems.
  • Ability to work and manage with competing priorities taking ownership and responsibility for own work.
  • A recognised Payroll qualification, such as CIPP (Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals) or demonstratable experience.
  • iTrent experience
  • Exposure to Payroll Implementation.
  • Exposure to LGPS and NHS pensions.


Abilities and skills

  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines with a varied workload whilst maintaining a high standard of quality.
  • Ability to communicate confidently politely and effectively with cross functional teams, both verbally and in writing.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and a keen eye for detail.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills (including Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams).
  • Willing to give and receive feedback to support the organisations continuous improvement.
  • Willingness for occasional travel to attend national/regional internal and external meetings.
  • Awareness and experience of the demands of public sector contract providers.
