Job Title:Payroll Officer
Location: Conwy
Contract Type: 1-month initial contract
Pay Rate: £15/hr
Responsibilities:
As a Payroll Officer within a local authority in Conwy, your primary responsibilities will include:
Data Accuracy and Authorisation:
- Ensure that payroll information is complete, correct, and duly authorised by the correct signatory.
Employee Setup and Documentation:
- Set up new employees on Trent Payroll system and meticulously check all documentation received.
Client Relationship Management:
- Liaise with Managers and Organisations that provide Payroll Services, fostering and maintaining positive client relationships.
Payroll System Management:
- Implement changes to pay or contracts on the payroll system and promptly address any anomalies, demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of the terms and conditions.
Data Maintenance:
- Ensure accurate maintenance of data within the iTrent Payroll System, updating records for permanent changes to employees' personal and contract details, such as changes in hours, tax codes, and bank account details.
Monthly Returns and Validation:
- Input information from the monthly returns, including overtime, unsocial hours, on-call hours, unpaid leave, and travel claims. Additionally, validate travel input entered by other Payroll Officers.
Knowledge & Skills:
- Educated to NVQ Level 3 in Payroll or equivalent experience.
- Ability to use computerised payroll and financial systems.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Working knowledge of the National Joint Council for Local Government Services and Job Evaluation pay schemes.
- Familiarity with tax, National Insurance, and Pension Regulations.
- Basic knowledge of the Local Government financial regime.
- Strong communication skills in both written and verbal English.
- Proficient in written and verbal Welsh.
