Payroll Officer - Craigavon - Full Time

About the role:

  • Public Sector
  • Location: Craigavon
  • Contract: Fixed term 9 months (Possibility of extension)
  • Hours of Work: Monday to Friday 9.00 am - 5.00 pm
  • Rate of Pay: £15.70 per hour
  • 37 hours per week

Your focus will be to support the Payroll Manager, Payroll Supervisor and Pension Administrator by ensuring proper, accurate and timely payment of employees. Duties will include:

  • Deliver a comprehensive payroll service, ensuring timely and accurate payments
  • Liaise with Human Resources to ensure the accuracy, validation, maintenance and security of new/existing employee records and payroll instructions
  • Assist the Payroll Supervisor in the maintenance and development of the Payroll system and the implementation and monitoring of new or amended payroll procedures
  • Review complex information and provide advice and guidance
  • Assist with the processing of contractual and statutory schemes, such as sick, maternity/paternity/adoption/parental
  • Assist with the payment of pension with adherence to Auto Enrolment Regulations
  • Responding to queries from the Internal Audit, External Auditor, National Fraud Initiative and HMRC inspectors during their audit/inspections
  • Maintain master records of payroll data
  • Assist in the update, recoup and transfer of all payroll costs to the General Ledger
  • Verify and process travel and subsistence expenses
  • Maintain, control and calculate holiday entitlement for employees, casual and coaching staff

Criteria:

  • 5 GCSEs (grades A-C) or equivalent/ comparable including English Language and Maths.
  • Two years’ relevant experience to include:
  • Processing of Payroll, Pensions and HMRC regulations;
  • Regular use of a computerised payroll system;
  • Regular use of Microsoft Office packages.
  • Please note this position will also be subject to receipt of a satisfactory Basic AccessNI check.
