Job Tile:           PE and Outdoor Education Teacher

Location:         Meadowcroft - The Hub, Wakefield

Salary:             Up to £42,000 per annum

Hours:              37.5 hours per week; Monday to Friday

Contract:         Permanent, Term Time Only

Must be UK based.

Are you a PE and Outdoor Education Teacher committed to improving the lives of pupils and young people? We are recruiting for an experienced Teacher to join our fantastic team at Meadowcroft - The Hub located in Wakefield.

Main Purpose

As a PE and Outdoor Education Teacher you will take a creative approach to teaching pupils according to their educational needs, ensuring delivery of the school curriculum in a way that maximises pupils’ achievement and ability to develop.

  • Undertake the normal responsibilities of the class teacher
  • To attend Teacher meetings as and when required
  • Undertake such duties as are delegated by SLT
  • To play a significant role in the establishment, maintenance and development of a calm and safe learning environment. To provide and promote the emotional well-being of each individual to reflect our commitment to educating the ‘whole child’

Essential

  • Good honours degree in relevant subject
  • Qualified Teacher Status (or currently an ITT / GTP trainee)
  • Outstanding classroom practitioner
  • Detailed knowledge of National Curriculum for Key Stage 3
  • Detailed knowledge of current developments in education
  • Knowledge and experience of intervention strategies with a focus on SEND needs
  • Ability to put vision into practice
  • Ability to devise new resources for learning
    • Either: Successful placement(s), teaching at KS3 & KS4 (applicants currently in training)
    • or: Successful record of teaching pupils within a SEND classroom including very good exam results at one or more of KS4 & KS5 (applicants who already have gained QTS)

Meadowcroft is an independent specialist day school for boys and girls aged from 5 to 19, catering for pupils with a wide range of needs in 4 sites across Wakefield. Our dedicated team work together to ensure successful outcomes for pupils who often arrive at the school with a troubled view of education and life.
