PE Teacher

I am currently seeking a dynamic and compassionate PE teacher to join the team at a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Wandsworth. This is an immediate start opportunity for the right candidate.

Position: PE Teacher

Location: Wandsworth, South West London

This PRU is committed to providing a supportive and inclusive environment for students who may have Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. They take a trauma-informed approach to education, understanding our students' unique challenges and providing them with the tools and support they need to succeed. As a trauma-informed school, the school prioritises creating a safe and nurturing environment where students feel understood, valued, and supported. Their approach is rooted in empathy, compassion, and understanding, recognizing the impact of trauma on learning and behaviour. They emphasise building positive relationships, promoting emotional regulation skills, and creating opportunities for healing and growth.

 

Requirements:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
• Experience teaching PE, preferably with secondary school-aged children
• Excellent behaviour management skills
• Full understanding of therapeutic education
• Passion for working with young people and making a positive impact
• Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the needs of students with SEMH

 

Responsibilities:

• Planning and delivering engaging PE lessons that promote physical fitness and well-being
• Creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued and respected
• Implementing trauma-informed strategies to support students with SEMH and other additional needs
• Collaborating with colleagues to provide a holistic approach to education and support for students
• Participating in staff training and professional development opportunities
