Peer Navigator (Sessional, Full Time)

Contract: Sessional, Fixed Term until end of June 2024 due to funding
Salary: Grade 3 Points 11 to 18
£22,839 to £26,283 per annum pro rata (pay award pending/subject to pending job evaluation)
West Lothian College is looking to appoint a highly motivated Peer Navigator to join our Access Schools and Employability faculty. The successful applicant will work alongside Learning and Skills Managers to provide a whole-person approach to assist identified students who require support to improve engagement in learning and relationships with peers.
The team will work in partnership to increase prospects in education or to employment for students. This will involve working together with external organisations and other college Faculties and teams, contributing to the delivery of our support and intervention strategies across the college.
The purpose of this role is to develop independent, confident, and resilient learners who are well-prepared to engage with the wider community. You will have opportunities to work closely with individuals, small groups and lecturing staff to help ensure there are positive changes in all learning environments. For example, this may be achieved through setting individual goals and/or plans.
The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, empathetic, trauma informed and committed to supporting others. Experience of working with individuals who require support to develop the necessary social and academic skills to allow them to succeed at college and improve their life skills. You should be qualified to SCQF Level 6.
