Job description

The University of Glasgow has been changing the world for more than 570 years, and today we are one of the world's top 100 universities.  We are delighted to have recently been awarded Scottish University of the Year by the Times & Sunday Times Good University Guide 2024. Our people have always been at the forefront of innovation, and our past achievements inspire our current world changers. A fantastic new opportunity has arisen for a People and Organisational Development Business Partner to join the University’s Human Resources function (known internally as People and Organisational Development or P&OD). As a member of our P&OD team, you'll play a crucial role in fostering an environment where talent thrives and innovation flourishes. About the role In this role, you will provide advice and support for a range of People and OD services for the College of Science and Engineering (CoSE). You will work with leaders and managers to facilitate and influence the delivery of the people agenda and local ‘people’ related initiatives within the College, offering professional and high-quality advice, support, and coaching, in order to foster sound decision-making and build local management capability in relation to the handling of people management issues. Working in collaboration with senior colleagues across P&OD, you will identify, propose and implement people solutions, including organisational design and development, workforce planning, and talent management initiatives, to enable the achievement of strategic objectives at both a College and institutional level, creating and providing effective management oversight of an action plan(s) to deliver those solutions. About you With previous experience of providing high-quality advice and guidance on a range of people-related matters (including the application of HR policies), you will have a proven track record of delivery in an HR/P&OD role at a professional level, gained within a complex operating environment. Building and maintaining effective client relationships and service delivery partnerships across the College and wider University will be key to success in your role, therefore the ability to adopt a consultancy style, with a strategic HR Business Partnering approach, is essential. You will be a credible and confident communicator, with the ability to articulate and persuade clients at all levels within the University on a range of matters. You will also have the ability to draft accurate, concise, and comprehensive reports and letters, and convey complex information in an accessible way to varied staff groups and audiences.           You will also have experience in successfully handling an Employee Relations casework portfolio, including attendance management, performance management, discipline and grievance investigations and hearings. A chartered CIPD member, you will be skilled in interpreting and applying relevant organisational policies and procedures, employment legislation, and good practice to complex scenarios. This post is full time (35 hours per week, Monday- Friday) and open-ended (permanent). Relocation assistance will be provided where appropriate.  Informal enquiries should be directed via email to Mhairi Docherty (Head of People & Organisational Development (CoSE), mhairi.docherty@glasgow.ac.uk To apply online, please click the 'Apply' button, above. Closing Date: 23:45 on Monday 19th February 2024 As part of Team UofG, you will be a member of a world-changing, inclusive community, which values ambition, excellence, integrity and curiosity. We endorse the principles of Athena Swan and hold bronze, silver and gold awards across the University.
