Job description

Join us at Orbia Building & Infrastructure (Wavin): Where purpose comes to life

You’re purpose driven. Growth minded. Ready to stretch your potential. Welcome to Orbia’s Building & Infrastructure business, Wavin, where our purpose ‘to advance life around the world’ drives our entire global team.

Every day, we are thinking big and working smart to solve some of the toughest challenges impacting the world. Whether it’s facilitating clean drinking water for communities, creating climate resilient cities, or designing more comfortable living spaces, we never settle for “good enough” when there’s an opportunity to make life better.

Where purpose comes to life, it changes lives. This is what we work for. How about you?

At Orbia Building & Infrastructure (Wavin), we advance life around the world by building healthy, sustainable environments. And where is our help most needed? The places we live in: cities where drinking water is leaking away, greenery is disappearing, streets are flooding after heavy rain, and outdated sewer systems are polluting our groundwater. It’s time to join our team and help build more sustainable environments!

We are currently looking for a People Assistant - Doncaster to join us. If you want to make a difference and work for a purpose-led company, please read on.

The Role

To provide administrative support to the HR Business Partner at Doncaster and wider People Team. The role encompasses all aspects of HR administration including, but not exclusive to, supporting recruitment and onboarding processes, attendance management procedures, supporting complex employee relations cases, project management, and the maintenance of HR systems and record keeping.

This role is also responsible for the coordination and administration of the Orbia B&I Switch Team Effectiveness Programme in both the United Kingdom and Nordic countries.

Main Responsibilities

  • Support the HR Business Partner in all aspects of administrative support related to the Doncaster site.
  • Support the wider People Team with administrative duties and assist other People Assistants in the accurate and timely delivery of tasks, when required.
  • Take responsibility for the effective coordination and administration of attendance management procedures, ensuring processes are followed by employees and line managers in line with policy.
  • Take responsibility for onboarding and offboarding processes, participate in recruitment and selection activities, action changes to employee terms and conditions, update job descriptions, policies, and procedures in line with company and legislative changes, and act as people representative in employee relations cases.
  • Maintain HR systems, such as Orbia Pulse and ensure record keeping remains in line with corporate requirements and legislation.
  • Update and maintain organisational charts to reflect employee headcount and changes.
  • In conjunction with, and support from the HR Business Partner, undertake and complete people related projects to a high standard.
  • Work closely with the Compensation and Benefits Manager and Payroll Team to ensure that fines and parking contraventions incurred by Company car drivers are distributed in a timely manner.

This is a demanding role which requires the postholder to work at pace, whilst also maintaining accuracy and attention to detail. The postholder must possess and demonstrate a sound working knowledge of HR administration, the application of policies and procedures, HR best practice, and employment law.

Profile

The successful candidate will have previous experience in an administrative role, ideally within a HR or Learning and Development capacity. An excellent communicator across all mediums with the ability to plan and execute a variety of tasks and responsibilities in line with operational deadlines.

We are keen to welcome a highly organised team player who can work accurately at pace. With an ability to deliver results under pressure, the role would suit a reliable candidate who is driven by process and demonstrates agility and curiosity. Prioritisation and attention to detail are key to the success of this role, and we welcome candidates who display integrity, trustworthiness, and reliability with a commitment to delivering an output of high quality and precision.

A high degree of computer literacy is required for the role and the postholder must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. Experience in learning and development coordination and administration would be a distinct advantage, however this is not essential.

Education

Minimum GCSE (or equivalent) Grade 5 in Maths and English.

Degree educated (or equivalent) in Human Resources, Business and Management, or any other related disipline.
