Job description

We are looking for an experienced Advisor to join our People & Culture Team at Thermatic.


We’re looking for a CIPD qualified HR Advisor who has experience supporting remote workforces within the Facilities Management or Construction industries to join our established team. The team comprises of a Director of People & Culture, People & Culture Manager, and People & Culture Assistant. This role will work alongside all team members, reporting into the People & Culture Manager.


This role will require some travel as we’re looking to increase our face-to-face capacity with our remote, distributed engineering workforce. We cover the entirety of the UK so some staying away would be necessary with a frequency of at least once per quarter.


Our ideal candidate will be confident and passionate in their HR knowledge and delivery, enjoy engaging with a variety of people across different functions and levels within the business, conducts themselves with integrity, and is always keen to make a positive change.

 

The key responsibilities of this role are to:

Provide day to day HR generalist support to the business and colleagues, including:

  • Offering advice and effective action plans to colleagues in line with company process and policy
  • Identify and communicate the potential litigation risks associated with each option
  • Manage the creation of HR documents to support advice such as letters, form, policies, etc
  • Create and help maintain personnel and HR files
  • Act as a point of contact for our remote workforce ensuring inclusivity and driving engagement within and for all areas of People & Culture within the business.
  • Support the delivery of the people plan and work with colleagues and the business to enable the achievement of business outcomes.
  • Support and input into recruitment, reward, and recognition strategies to manage attrition, retention and staff engagement.
  • Carry out key administrative tasks such as: manage the People inbox, keeping HR information and all employee files updated, drafting job descriptions and communications and preparing letters on a range of HR matters.
  • Champion a consistent employee experience and ensure compliance and adherence to legislation, HR and company standards, and agreed policies and processes.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the People & Culture function by identifying gaps and challenges regarding HR process/working relationships and recommend solutions where appropriate.
  • Undertake all work with a sense of pride and deliver all information as required accurately, clearly, and within agreed deadlines.
  • Undertake regular CPD and self-development activities and support the development of junior colleagues.


Essential Criteria:

  • CIPD qualified & proven experience within a HR Advisor (or similar) role
  • Experience within the FM or Construction industry
  • Able to travel to locations across the UK as required
  • Strong written, verbal, and face-to-face communication skills and able to adapt communication style for audience and purpose
  • Personable, trust-worthy, and empathic nature whilst not afraid to have difficult conversations
  • Thorough in approach to all tasks and ensures actions are completed and followed up fully

 

Desirable Criteria:

  • CIPD Level 7 or Masters in Human Resources
  • Recruitment or Talent Acquisition experience
  • Learning & Development experience or qualification
  • Expert in engaging teams to deliver change
  • Experience in or familiarity with payroll functions and/or timesheet-based pay structures
