An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and dynamic individual to undertake the role of HR People Development Partner at Kent and Essex Police. 

 

The role offers a unique opportunity to help develop and maximise the potential of the talent management and People Development strategies for both Forces.  The varied and interesting portfolio oversees the successful delivery of a range of development initiatives and workstreams of strategic importance within HR.  In this role you will be responsible for the design, co-ordination and ongoing successful delivery of all talent and People Development provisions. These include officer promotional processes, succession planning for staff and officers and ‘Develop You’ as well as working closely with the Leadership Development and Development Team to create and deliver a range of development and talent pathways to enhance the career development of all officers and staff. 

 

The Talent and People Development team work to maximise the potential of our officers and staff, now and in the future, whilst also creating initiatives to enhance the workforce diversity and attract and develop ‘high potential’ talent.  Reporting to the Talent and People Development Manager the successful candidate for this role will direct, manage and support a small team, whilst networking with a wide range of leaders across the force and stakeholders within the College of Policing and other professional bodies. 

 

Ideally you will be a Chartered Member of the CIPD, Chartered CIPD or will hold an equivalent qualification or relevant experience at management level, preferably in a HR or L&D environment. Your proven creativity and innovation to develop new practices and policies , preferably in the People Development or talent arena, will also be essential to this role. 

 

Previous experience of providing HR consultancy to senior stakeholders in the aforementioned fields is essential as this post will support an influence senior leaders and stakeholders on the team’s agenda. 

 

In addition, you will need to be highly motivated and demonstrate personal resilience, and be confident at working independently to effectively lead a team under pressure to tight deadlines.  Proven organisational skills and ability to effectively prioritise and manage multiple workstreams across 2 Forces simultaneously is also critical to this role.  You will have excellent verbal (presentational) and written communications skills demonstrated by previous evidence of working with a range of senior stakeholders effectively.  

 

This role is based across Essex (Chelmsford) and Kent (Maidstone and North Kent) and will require you to spend time in each Force and across all three bases as part of a collaborative arrangement. As the department is responsive to needs of stakeholders and candidates some occasional weekend or evening working may be required.

Kent Police offer smarter working which designates that certain roles can have flexibility in terms of place of work, including the potential to work from home for those who would like to. The specific requirements of this role will be discussed during the interview stages with candidates. In the event that home working is agreed for the successful candidate, there will be a requirement to regularly attend a contractual workplace, as agreed with the line manager.

 

Essex Police offer agile working which designates that certain roles can offer flexibility in terms of place of work, including some home working. The specific requirements of this role will be discussed during the interview stages with candidates. The extent of flexibility will be agreed through individual assessment with the line manager to assess operational requirements and individual’s suitability for home working.

 

In the event that home working is agreed for the successful candidate, there will be a requirement to regularly attend the contractual workplace, as agreed with the line manager.

 

Essex Police offer incremental increases within this salary band, therefore the salary for this position will rise to a maximum of £52,122.00.

Kent Police and Essex Police have separate salary grading systems therefore the salary for this position will be dependent on which home office force you are appointed to. This will be discussed with the successful applicant before a final offer is made.
