About you

You will be an integral part of the newly formed Data and Analytics Centre of Excellence whilst being dedicated to solving critical and complex business issues within your allocated college. You will develop the insights necessary to better understand students, support transformation initiatives, identify operational efficiencies and enhance our student experience.
This new post will report to the Head of Data Analytics and Data Governance and will work across the University with the College Directors of Operations, Heads of Departments, other system users, Finance, HR, Organisational Development, Digital Services and EDI.

Main duties and responsibilities:

Project Management

·Responsible for the management and co-ordination of cross-system data integration development, working with the University's Digital Services and Data Integrations team and other relevant stakeholders.

Process Development and Improvement

·Developing strategies for effective analytics, ensuring data-driven decision-making is embedded in the business processes.
·Developing and agreeing processes with college teams and the data & analytics team to capture and report on all KPIs linked to workload management.
·To ensure that processes and data capture is appropriate to promote strong data management working within the university data management principles (specifically cleansing, validation, and formatting of data for use)

Networking and Communications

·Building strong relationships and communication channels across your business area, understanding objectives and pain points to provide counsel and guidance on data-related questions.
·To support the University's Workload Governance Board; influencing senior stakeholders in a positive way that supports the strategic goals of the service.
·To present opportunities, risks, issues and solutions to complex problems identified within insights developed around both operational and workload reporting.

Workload Management and the Workload Allocation Management System (WAMS)

·To be the subject matter expert for all technical and non-technical aspects of the Workload Framework and workload system (WAMS) to ensure that workload allocation data is delivered in a timely manner.
·Carrying out strategic modelling and what if' scenarios to inform the University Executive of the impact of those strategies.
·To interpret, understand and apply the University's Workload Principles and Framework, advising on and addressing/escalating emerging evolutionary changes.
·Contribute through data analytics the Control Sheet for the WAMS (The master data containing workload activities and tariffs imported into system).

Training and Guidance

·In conjunction with the WAMS software provider (Simitive) and internal HR/OD team, provide training and guidance on the principles of workload allocation and use of the software to academic managers and local administrative staff.
·To work with the college workload leads, HR, Organisational Development and Digital Services in managing and supporting the service.
·Support complex technical and non-technical issues, overseeing their investigation and resolution.
·Using the workload system (WAMS) to support Heads of Department in allocating and publishing work to individual academics within their department.

Data Analysis and Reporting

·Gathering and consolidating requirements for the future state reporting suite, considering stakeholder needs and challenging where necessary to optimise efficiency and address business problems effectively.
·Collaborating with the technical delivery team to define the Minimum Viable Product (MVP), identify required data sources, advise on wireframes and prototypes, and coordinate approvals.
·Building or advising on visualisation and processing improvements for dashboards, striving for best-in-class solutions that enhance business value by reducing processing time and providing clear insights on complex metrics.
·Ensuring high adoption of new products and decommissioning of the old reporting suite, driving the transition to a more efficient and impactful data ecosystem.
·Promoting a data-driven culture within the university, championing the value of data in decision-making both internally and externally.
·Identifying data quality issues and working with relevant teams to resolve these.

Person Specification

Essential:
·Education and qualifications - Educated to degree level.
·Experience - Significant experience in data analysis and interpretation - collecting, analysing and interpreting data from diverse sources.
·Experience of data management and system administration (ensuring completeness, accuracy & accessibility of data).
·Experience using, or aptitude to pick up quickly, a workload management system.
·Experience of building, maintaining, and utilising successful working relationships.
·Experience of balancing priorities and competing stakeholders.

Essential aptitude and skills
·Ability to drive organisational change by negotiating and influencing stakeholders. fostering a culture of continuous improvement
·Strong oral and written communication & presentation skills.
·Customer and results focused with a proactive, helpful & collaborative approach.
·Proficient in data analysis including statistical techniques and data visualisation.
·Experience in designing and developing data models and Power BI apps.
·Adept at problem solving, identifying challenges and opportunities through data analysis & developing innovative solutions.

Desirable:
·Experience of using Simitive's Workload Allocation Management System (WAMS) software or similar.
·Experience of using a Workload system for internal, and external reporting purposes.

·SQL essential
·R / Python useful
·Data Factory useful
·Power BI or similar
·Data Governance
·Project Management
