Job Title: Permit Authority Assistant
Location: Canvey Terminal, Canvey Island, SS8 0HR
Salary: 28-32k per annum DOE
Hours: 6am-6pm, 12 hour shifts, 4 days, rota inc. weekends.

We are currently recruiting for a Permit Authority Assistant, for a national client of ours based in Canvey Island, Essex. The role is site-based and is the largest facility in the UK able to import and export refrigerated propane.

General Purpose & Requirements
The role will primarily be compromised of:

  • Supervising, Coordinating, monitoring, and controlling activity, across the site, liaising closely with the Shift Team Lead. To ensure safe preparation pf plant and undertaking of works in the site accordance with the client policies and procedures.
  • Ensure proper protocol is maintained and demonstrating compliance with Terminal operating Procedures, Safety Procedures, Emergency Plans and KPI reporting requirements.
  • You will play a key role in the site emergency response Supporting the SIC and Emergency Response Teams as required.
  • Operations include the loading and unloading of LPG cargo from ships, management of refrigerated LPG storage. Export of high-pressure LPG by pipeline and by filling of road tankers.
  • Review and approve operating and work procedures, risk assessments & method statements.
  • In collaboration with the production lead, ensure team members are appropriately trained, competent and are flexible to meet current and future workload requirements.
  • Ensure date recording and accuracy is appropriate and complete to support accurate and reporting KPI's
  • Provide onsite incident supervision and in a line with their policies and procedures in response to incidents, emergencies and reports requiring escalation.


Key Skills, Experience & Knowledge

  • Experience of plant operations and associated operational/control systems (i.e., SCADA or DCS).
  • A wide range of practical ability, knowledge and understanding of LPG and/or cryogenic assets systems, encompassing electrical, mechanical, instrumentation, process, civil or telecoms engineering disciplines.
  • Technical process and engineering knowledge relating to the safety aspects of an upper tier COMAH site and relevant industry regulations, standards, and Approved Codes of Practices (ACOP). With proven ability to respond appropriately to abnormal or emergency situations.
  • Ability to respond appropriately to environmental hazards and incidents with a sound understanding of due care and attention.
  • Sound understanding of operational policies, procedures, and processes and/or aware of safe working practices and legislation relating to high pressure gas/cryogenics and/or high voltage electricity, including process isolations for intrusive maintenance activities.
