We are looking for a Permit (CITES) Coordinator at our site in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire. In this newly formed role, you will perform CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora) permit applications and manage the physical documents that are a legal requirement of the import and export of non-human primate samples, and of the shipment of other materials that come under CITES legislation. The position includes Veterinary Export Health Certification and the knowledge of the Import Licences that are required by various national and regional legislations.

This would suit someone with industry experience looking to take the next step in their career, a graduate interested in science or someone from a shipping/logistics background.

Duties Include:

  • Being principle site point of contact for CITES permits, Export Health Certificates (EHCs), Import Licences, Vet letters and any related documentation and information.

  • Application for CITES permits and Export Health Certificates, including provision of the necessary supporting documentation, for shipments from Huntingdon.

  • Conversing with UK Import Licences and able to advise imports and departments clearly on their use.

  • Receiving, handling, and providing Logistics for dispatch CITES permits, both for delivery to Courier to receive imports and inclusion with the shipment documentation for exports.

  • Administration of EHCs when hard copies are posted out by Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA).

  • Liaising with Official Veterinarian (OV) in the acceptability of EHCs for signature and arrange with OV’s for their availability for the EHC sign off.

  • Requesting Veterinary Health Letters, ensuring they are complete, meeting the requirements of the Client Import Licence, and are presented to the Vets for signature and delivered to Logistics in a timely manner.

Qualifications:

  • BSc or equivalent industry experience

Skills/Experience:

  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal with a high level of attention to detail working to high quality standards.

  • Naturally curious and interested in, and with an aptitude for, learning new things along with the ability to demonstrate critical thinking.

  • Self-motivated with the ability to use own initiative as well as work as part of a team.

  • Previous experience in industry either in an operational or support role advantageous.
