Job description

Murray Myers are very pleased to be assisting their client with the recruitment of a Permit Officer reporting directly to the Head of HSE for this large engineering business supplying into a Nuclear Market.

A Fixed Term Contract anticipated for 18 months, the role of the Permit Officer is to maintain control of the release of the facility to ensure safe system configuration during delivery of work. They control work activities in a designated area on behalf of the Facility.

 The PO releases the start, continuance or interruption of any work activity which is on the schedule
 The PO shall act for and on behalf of the Facility
 Releasing and coordinating all work within a designated area
 Provide input into the integrated plan
 Ensuring that all work is released in accordance with the authorised schedule or in accordance with
the change control
 Ensuring work released is compatible with other work scheduled and current facility conditions.
 Participating in stakeholder meetings to represent the facility.
 Performing periodic tours of the facility to observe activities and ensure they are being performed
safely and in accordance with approved procedures.
 Provide the central point of contact for personnel coming into the designated area such that they are
properly authorised, as detailed in the house rules.
 Confirming that all SSOW documentation is archived in accordance with company procedure.
 Provide independent verification for any isolations that are placed under the ITC process
 Review and confirm performance documents Work packs include safety controls to mitigate hazards
identified.
 Act as a member of the Risk Assessment process
 Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of the status of activities within their specified area of control that
can be used to provide a handover to oncoming personnel.
 The PO is authorised to stop any activity which appears to be unsafe

Essential role related knowledge, technical skills, qualifications and experience
 Previous experience as Safe System of Work controller or Permit officer
 Demonstrable understanding of Electrical and Mechanical isolation processes
