What's involved with this role:
Temporary Personal Advisor x3 - Care Leaver & USAC
Reference no: Leicestershire TCL 0008 9B61 / 1
Pay rate: £15.44 per hour PAYE
Hours per week: 37 Monday to Friday, normal working hours
This opening assignment is for 3 months
City: GLENFIELD, Leicestershire
Hybrid working, office based for the first 2 weeks to complete training and to meet the team
Enhanced DBS required for this role
Alternatively qualified and newly qualified social workers with experience completing pathway plans, are required to work as Personal Advisors in the Care Leaver Team (1 role) and the USAC team (2 roles). The ages that the team covers are from 16-25yrs. To undertake a caseload of young people with a visiting pattern so candidates will need to be flexible to complete visits as well as team meetings.
Key responsibilities:
  • Responsible for carrying out all the duties of the job in accordance with the County Councils Equal Opportunities Policy.
  • Meet Children’s Workforce development Confederation Induction Standards
  • Support and advocate for Children & Young People who are Looked After or Leaving Care (including Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children/Young People).
  • Contribute to Single Assessments and to contribute to Age Assessments.
  • Supervise contact visits when parents are visiting children who are looked after.
  • Provide necessary transport for children/young people and parents/carers.
  • Undertake identified Life Story Work.
  • Undertake such other duties as are within the scope of the job purpose, the title of the job and its grading.
  • Attend supervision compliant with CYPS Supervision policy and procedure and with the Team Manager at annual PDR and mid-year review their individual and developmental needs.
  • Complete Common Induction Standards and undertake continuing professional and personal development to develop and update knowledge and skills.
  • The nature of the work may involve the jobholder carrying out work outside of normal working hours.

Qualifications:
  • Alternatively qualified and newly qualified social workers.
  • Level 3 childcare qualification (NNEB/NVQ3 or equivalent).

Experience:
  • Experience completing pathway plans.
  • Relevant paid or unpaid experience of working with young people within a social care setting or similar.
  • Providing support services to young people and/or unaccompanied and refugee young people desirable.
  • Experience of behavioural work with children/young people and their carers.

Knowledge:
  • Knowledge of child development, home safety issues, Safeguarding children issues, basic child behavioural techniques and the needs of older children.

Skills & Abilities:
  • Organisational and planning skills.
  • Ability to work creatively.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with children, young people, parents and other professionals.
  • Ability to work with a range of professionals and engage in multi-disciplinary work.
  • Commitment to preventative work and demonstrable improved outcomes for children, young people and parents.
  • Able to produce clear, accurate records and reports.
  • Able to analyse information to reach sound decisions, often under pressure, and take responsibility for their outcome and regular reporting to the Team manager.
  • Able to communicate clearly and accurately, orally and in writing, with a wide range of people, including representatives from other agencies, using skills of negotiation and persuasion.
  • Able to prioritise effectively a wide range of competing demands to meet deadlines.
  • Possession of a valid driving licence and access to a vehicle. However, a reasonable adjustment will be considered for an applicant with a disability.
  • Strong IT skills including Microsoft packages or equivalent (e.g. G Suite).
  • Availability to work outside normal office hours including possible early mornings, evenings and weekends.
