We are looking for a Personal Assistant / Support Worker who is enthusiastic, empathic, genuine and patient people to join our team, who are interested in making a difference to two adult young men’s lives.
As a team of Personal Assistant / Support Workers, we support two autistic twin men in their own home, using a range of research-based approaches, such as person centred therapy, elements of applied behaviour analysis, picture exchange communication systems and a low-arousal approach.
Duties
- To assist in the design and implementation of therapeutic programmes.
- To support the individual to be autonomous in self-care.
- To monitor and take accurate data daily.
- To support individuals during times of challenging behaviour.
- To model best practice and professionalism at all times.
- To support the individual in their domestic skills.
- To attend mandatory training, supervision and team meetings.
- To promote safeguarding and wellbeing for the individuals.
- Flexibility to work during evenings and weekends and provide cover.
- To work or be down for cover every other Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Eve.
- To support the individual hiking, cycling and in other similar activities.
- Other duties as required by your manager
Essential
- The minimum working hours per week are 15 & there is a 6-week initial trial period to ensure compatibility/suitability.
- A positive attitude!
- To be flexible and take constructive feedback well, when engaging in reflective practice.
- To be able to work overnights, weekends, Christmas period and be available for emergency cover.
Preferred
- Hold a clean UK driving licence
- Previous experience with LD’s/Autism would be helpful but not essential.
We are a flexible team and can offer hours to suit those with academic commitments
