The role of Personal Tutor is ideal if you:
  • Want a varied role where you can get involved in all kinds of exciting projects while being based across two bustling campuses. Working closely with Learners, curriculum teams, parents & external organisations
  • Are looking for the perfect first step into a student-facing role and have long-term aspirations to progress within education to a teaching or student experience position
  • Passionately believe that learners from all backgrounds & situations, however complex, should have the right to an excellent level of education, and want to work with them to break down barriers and build success
Day-to-day you will be responsible for:
  • Delivery of high-quality and impactful student contact time through a mix of group tutorials tailored to the group, and further 1:1s or small group tutorials.
  • Play a key role in ensuring all learners have the best possible experience at the college through induction, tutorial and enrichment activities.
  • Check that all academy students' wider support needs are being met, including SEND
  • Improve outcomes for all academy students through formal 1:1s, pastoral interventions & Academic Support
  • Improve and maintain positive destinations for students
  • Ensure robust and appropriate parent/carer liaison
  • Actively promote and embody the college's FREDIE values of fairness, respect, equality, diversity and engagement

  • Built relationships & trust with students to help them engage (or re-engage) with their learning
  • Increased attendance, achievement and positive destinations for all academy learners
  • Have effectively worked with the HoSE as well as external organisations
  • Enthusiastically engaged with the college's dedicated CPD programmes to develop your learner-facing skills
  • Built Strong working relationships and supported colleagues where possible
