Job description

New role!! Photography Assistant, based from our studio in Middlewich. Fixed term contract to December 2024. Salary c £25k p.a. (pro rata) + many benefits.
Supporting our experienced Photographer/Videographer primarily with product photography, but with the opportunity for some off-site shoots / new openings, creating high quality images for marketing and advertising purposes, image editing and filing, using your existing technical understanding and learning new skills. The Role - Photography Assistant
This role sits within our marketing team and will be working closely with our experienced in-house Photographer & Videographer, based from our Middlewich studio. If you have some prior photography experience to build from, you’ll learn a lot and can apply your skills in a growing business that’s going places! We have a strong online presence as well as our in-store collateral where your images will be viewed by our national customer base, helping to promote Jollyes and our vast product range as brands of choice.

To summarise your key responsibilities as our Photography Assistant the role will involve:

  • Product and studio photography with occasional need to work with people and/or animals
  • Organisation of the photography studio, lighting and equipment set up
  • Liaising with colleagues to arrange delivery of products needed for photography
  • Maintenance of photography equipment
  • Image editing and retouching as well as cataloguing and filing
  • In-store and on-location photography as needed (occasional travel)
  • Other ad-hoc duties will be required to support the needs of the business


The Skills - Photography Assistant


To be successful in this role, you’ll need the following skills, experience and qualities:

  • Self starter who has some prior knowledge of photography (e.g. has studied photography at school or college or further education) and has a good understanding of photography techniques
  • Can receive instructions and use initiative to complete their tasks to agreed timescales.
  • High technical knowledge of Mac computers and software
  • Excellent understanding of DSLR or Mirrorless cameras (Canon equipment advantageous)
  • Technical knowledge and practical experience of studio lighting
  • Excellent organisational and analytical skills
  • Highly proficient in MS Office suite
  • Ability to build strong networks
  • Fluency in Photoshop CS and Bridge
  • Video/Social Media (Premier Pro or equivalent) production and knowledge would be desirable
  • Drivers licence and own transport will be required to get to the studio base and off-site locations (travel expenses will be paid for any off-site travel needed)
