PHP Developer
Initally office based but after training, flexible to discuss hyrid working. Hillthorn Business Park, Washington, Tyne and Wear, NE37 3HG

07.55 – 16.35 Monday to Thursday

JOB PURPOSE
As part of the IT Team this position is responsible for the provision of essential operational support to the business, while also leading proactive system development activities in support of improving performance, satisfying customers and providing new products/services to customers internally and externally.
1. Development
Support the business with the development and troubleshooting of existing platforms, in order to provide outstanding reliability, functionality and operational performance to internal and external customers. This requires working with existing systems, while also exploring and developing new opportunities in keeping with business strategy.
2. Support
Provision of essential end user support to the business, ensuring reliability targets are achieved and maintained across all operating systems. As a junior level developer the majority of support and development will be focused around office applications, while gaining knowledge with gradual exposure to the critical operational systems.
3. Performance improvement
Proactively review and identify opportunities for improvement across all existing systems and operational practices in pursuit of standards of excellence.
4. Customer management
Work with customers (internally & externally) to effectively manage expectations, ensuring their needs are being satisfied. Attend project meetings as required and work with customers at their base operations.
5. People
Develop effective working relationships with key internal stakeholders at levels in the business to ensure constructive communication is maintained at all times.
6. Perform other related duties as required in keeping with the department and business.

Stakeholder/Customer:
- Work closely with customers to ensure expectations are managed and delivered.
- Ensure frequent and effective communication channels are in place and maintained.
- Actively ensure the IT service delivered is of a high standard.
- Support tasks as required.
Staff/People/Team:
- Liaise with IT manager and team members with regards to time specific tasks.
- Provide constant feedback to the IT Manager of potential issues.
- Work closely with existing developers to harness knowledge of existing systems.
- Provide support where required to other team members to achieve deadlines.
- Provide relevant information to internal customers in a timely manner.
- Support management in achieving strategic objectives.
Processes:
- Ensure company policies and procedures are adhered to and updated in accordance with business and customer requirements.
- Ensure standard operation procedures are available and up to date.
- Housekeeping in line with company 5S principles.
Results:
- Respond to operational reliability and system performance priorities in line with service level agreements.
- Deliver projects in line with quality, cost and delivery objectives.
- React to evolving work priorities and targets, in line with the needs of the business.
- Achievement of daily workload in accurate and timely manner.
Financial:
- Effective budget management in agreed financial targets
- Ensure compliance with the company Purchase Order process.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
- Developing applications for industry using MYSQL/PHP/CSS/HTML
- Development experience / knowledge in other languages such as Javascript / Java / Python
- Experience developing web applications.
- Thrives in a responsive environment with demanding customer goals and expectations
- Experience of working in automotive / manufacturing sector.
- Proven track record success managing multiple customers/stakeholders.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- High skill level of PHP coding, accompanied with adequate skill level in associated languages / applications listed above

EDUCATION/QUALIFICATION
- Computer Science / Maths / Statistics or other related degree qualification
- Evidence of experience in line with the knowledge required for this role
