Job description

As a Physical Activity Specialists, you will support our service users to improve their health and wellbeing through safely increasing their levels of activity, through targeted falls prevention and strength-based programmes, through a thorough process of individualised and tailored care, from assessment and planning to implementing and evaluating progress.


You will be working as part of a health team, provide exercise and support via group activity regarding the benefits of, and opportunities to reduce sedentary behaviour and increase habitual levels of Physical Activity, to ensure excellent patient healthcare and contractual outcomes.


Flexibility is required including evenings and weekends / flexitime. You will be working predominantly in the community with some work from home and at our offices (if available)

Non London - £28,500 to £32,500
London - £31,500 to £35,500


  • Deliver individual tailored Physical Activity to clients of many backgrounds and abilities in the community. Personalised movement to each service user by assessing their likes, dislikes, wants and abilities.
  • Work within your own capabilities and be able to identify service users who may need specialist input. Empower individuals to manage their weight effectively by understanding their individual needs and supporting them to change behaviours.
  • Support the recruitment of individuals to the interventions by working with key local stakeholder including local organisations, and signpost families dependent on their needs
  • Coordinate local sprots coaches to deliver Physical Activity sessions to children, young people, adults, and families
  • Help refine existing programmes in line with evidence, co-production, and sound underpinning theories
  • Follow up with individuals after sessions and consultation ensuring they are on track and referring them onto alternative services if necessary (depending on contract requirements)
  • Achievement of contracts aims / key performance indicators

Qualifications & Experience


Essential

  • REPs Level 3 Registration and/or member of CIMSPA
  • Experience of working with children, young people, and families
  • Experience of working with adults with health problems and disabilities
  • Experience of having to prioritise caseload / manage own time effectively

Desirable

  • Level 2 certificate in instructing children
  • Level 3 Exercise Referral Qualification
  • Experience of working with hard to reach groups and tackling health inequities
  • Experience working as part of a multi-disciplined team
  • Experience working in community health programmes
