Job description

We are looking for a Pick and Place machine operator based in Portsmouth for one of our clients.

A Pick and Place Operator is responsible for operating machinery or equipment used in the manufacturing process to pick up components or products from one location and accurately place them in another. This role is commonly found in industries such as electronics manufacturing, semiconductor production, and other assembly line environments. The job description may include the following responsibilities:

  1. Machine Operation:

    • Operate Pick and Place machines or robotic systems to pick up components from specified locations and Place them onto designated areas.
    • Ensure the proper setup and calibration of equipment to meet production requirements.
  2. Component Inspection:

    • Inspect components for defects or abnormalities before placing them to ensure quality standards are met.
    • Report any issues or discrepancies to supervisors or quality control personnel.
  3. Material Handling:

    • Handle and organise materials efficiently to maintain a smooth production flow.
    • Load and unload materials onto the Pick and Place equipment.
  4. Programming and Troubleshooting:

    • Program or set parameters for Pick and Place machines based on product specifications.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to equipment malfunctions or programming errors.
  5. Quality Control:

    • Monitor product quality during the Pick and Place process.
    • Follow quality control procedures and report any deviations from the standard.
  6. Production Schedules:

    • Adhere to production schedules and meet daily production quotas.
    • Work with supervisors to prioritise tasks based on production needs.
  7. Documentation:

    • Maintain accurate records of production activities, including quantities produced and any issues encountered.
    • Complete required paperwork or digital documentation associated with the Pick and Place process.
  8. Safety Compliance:

    • Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
    • Report any safety concerns or incidents promptly.
  9. Collaboration:

    • Collaborate with team members and other departments to ensure a coordinated and efficient production process.
    • Communicate effectively with supervisors and coworkers to relay important information.
  10. Continuous Improvement:

    • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and optimise processes.
    • Provide feedback and suggestions for process improvement.

A Pick and Place Operator should have attention to detail, technical aptitude, and the ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Additionally, basic troubleshooting skills and the ability to follow safety and quality standards are crucial for success in this role.
