Job description

We are looking for an experienced Nature Reserve Warden to cover Maternity leave, working 3 days a week- flexible. 9 - 5:30 pm required to do the odd weekend depending on whether there are customer events. Based at the Nature Reserve at Farmoor Reservoir, you will be managing the site about biodiversity, public access, community involvement and education enhancements. To promote the achievements of the Nature Reserve within the Company, among regulators, stakeholders and interest groups.
What you'll be doing as Nature Reserve Warden
  • Develop and maintain the Management Plan for the site.
  • Manage the Nature Reserve according to the Management Plan and within budget.
  • Undertake risk assessments for activities done on-site and by volunteers, complying
    with Thames Water H&S policy and the requirements of the controller of premises.
  • Promote the site within Thames Water and in the local area/community through
    events, talks, tours and the media.
  • Arrange and administrate Management Committee meetings.
  • Co-ordinate and undertake wildlife monitoring and reporting.
What you should bring to the role
  • In-depth knowledge of habitat and wildlife management preferably with an appropriate degree.
  • Well-developed skills in wildlife identification and ecology, especially in birds and wetland natural history.
  • Sound knowledge of and proficiency in practical conservation skills.
  • An enthusiasm for urban conservation and relating it to the public.
  • Ability to liaise at all levels of the Business.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to liaise with people at all levels of the business and community.
  • Effective work planning, time management and prioritisation skills.
