As Placements Adviser you will be responsible for supporting students across the institution with placement and employability opportunities, under the direction of the Placements Manager/Head of Careers and Employability, as appropriate. You will spend time in your Divisions, developing relationships with key stakeholders, and being a visible presence for students, as well as working to targets and deadlines to ensure we are meeting strategic objectives and making best use of our resources.

This is an important and highly valued role as you will be part of a team that delivers an outstanding service which embeds the Divisional and University employability strategy and ensures students are provided with appropriate opportunities to improve their graduate outcomes and employment prospects.

In this role you will be responsible for:

The promotion of the placements programme(s) internally to existing students through participation in induction events, cohort meetings, workshops, 1-2-1 sessions, etc.

  • Providing placement support to include pastoral care, monitoring of engagement/attendance (including UKVI compliance), placement visits (physical and online) and student briefings before and after placement
  • Advising students and academic colleagues on the marking criteria of the placement deliverables (e.g. journal, portfolio, reflective report)
  • Proactively engaging with external contacts to generate new and maintain existing opportunities for students in collaboration with the Employer Engagement Team

To be successful in this role you will need to have / be able to:

  • Educated to A-level or equivalent
  • Experience of working in an employability/HR related role, with an excellent understanding of student and graduate employment practices
  • Experience of organising or supporting the organisation of events
  • Experience of offering support and advice in a professional context
