Planning Manager / Senior Planning Manager
An excellent opportunity has presented itself for an experienced Planner to join a dynamic and forward-thinking Renewable Energy Developer based in London!
My clients dynamic team is collectively responsible for developing, constructing, and operating utility scale energy projects in the UK, raising over 5.8 billion in funds for renewables projects and generating 6GW of renewable energy!
The successful candidate will work as part of the Development Team and be responsible for providing support on a range of renewable energy projects at all stages of the planning process from reviewing prospective sites, supporting on pre-application consultation (with LPAs and the public), managing external consultants preparing planning applications and discharging planning conditions.
Responsibilities
- Undertaking desk studies, site visits, and preparing planning assessments for prospective sites.
- Support the continuous improvement of origination strategy and review of M&A sites.
- Analysing planning policy and making recommendations to the Development Team.
- To assist in delivering fully consented, construction ready renewable energy projects.
- Manage sub-consultants undertaking surveys and preparing planning applications.
- Manage projects going through appeal process.
- Support the preparation of pre-application consultation reports and EIA screening requests to Local Authorities and site selection justification reports.
- Preparing Planning Statements/ Design and Access Statements and Green Belt Assessments.
- Work with the Community Engagement Manager, Development Managers and Project Manager to support on public consultation.
- Coordination of design constraints to help facilitate design changes on projects, working with the Technical Manager to deliver this.
- Financial administration including budgeting, raising, and receipting purchase orders and invoices.
Candidate Requirements
The ideal candidate will be confident in the planning system and comfortable preparing relevant planning documentation (planning statements, green belt assessments etc) and ideally with some experience of planning appeals. Other requirements include:
- Experience reviewing planning related documents.
- Relevant planning experience, ideally in renewable energy planning in the UK and holding a recognized RTPI planning qualification or working towards this.
- Proven project management skills with ability to prioritise and deliver to deadlines.
- Strong report-writing and communication skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Some experience of using GIS and/ or CAD would be beneficial.
- Full Driving Licence and strong IT competency.
- Ideally based in London but location would not be critical for the right candidate.
