The Planning Officerposition will be dealing with a variety of urban, rural and coastal planning issues. This is an opportunity to deal with the full breadth of planning application types in a challenging but rewarding District. This will give you a great chance to develop your negotiating and technical skills and, as your experience develops, to deal with more complex applications/issues.
The successful candidate would ideally have a degree in a planning related subject (such as architecture, geography, geology, landscape architecture, economics and recognised town planning qualification allowing membership to the Royal Town Planning Institute). However, consideration would be given to high quality applicants with no relevant experience or qualifications with a starting salary based on the Career Grade structure.
This post has an extensive amount of public contact, the occasional presentation of items at Development Control Committee, attendance at public meetings, hearings and other meetings as required. Some out of office hours working is part of the job requirement.
