Position Description
To undertake the inspection, maintenance, repair on a range of large mobile construction plant and equipment, to required legislation, design specifications.
The successful candidate will join an experienced team with-in our Fleet / Maintenance department situated in the North West, in supporting Operational delivery teams located nationwide.
Main Responsibilities
- Adherence to Health & Safety regulation requirements and Company procedures.
- Read, understand schematic drawings, following technical plans and instruction provided from equipment manufacturers, assist in the production of Risk Assessment documentation, Safe Working Practice, procedure development.
- Supervise the inspection, diagnostic investigation and conduct repairs to engineering plant vehicles.
- Controlled testing of electro-hydraulic circuits and control systems.
- Ability to repair HGV vehicle based hydraulic control systems, pump/motor replacement, fitment of wet kits, rams, and high-pressure fittings / hoses.
To be considered for the Plant Engineer / Technician role, you must have a proactive, logical, and methodical approach. In addition, the following key skills and experience are essential.
- Knowledge of workplace Health and Safety.
- Time served experience / fully qualified, with hands on experience of working on engineering plant / specialist construction equipment.
- Previous experience of hydraulic system / control, conveyor belt / cassette assemblies, automotive electrical systems, fluid and material dynamics / process control engineering systems, fitting and repair techniques.
- Hold a current Driving License (HGV class 1, 2 would be advantageous)
- Have previous experience with integrated pneumatic, automotive electrical systems,
- Practical experience in mechanical workshop production machinery operations and equipment, perform general welding / fabrication operations.
- General understanding and appreciation of HGV vehicle legislation / design specifications,
- Ability to cover weekend over-time during peak summer and seasonal periods, as required for operational team support.
- Willing to travel nationally with occasional overnight stays, as required.
- Work effectively on own initiative or as part of a team.
