The Mobile Cloud Team Design and Onboarding mobile infrastructure and applications for Mobile Voice and Data services for all mobile brands, ensuring we provide the best customer experience.
We drive and own the technical delivery of new tenants onto our multi-cloud infrastructure, ensuring that new tenants are onboarded efficiently and most importantly in a compliant manner. 
We drive mobile cloud related architecture and technology decisions, ensuring that it is supportable and fit for purpose, paying close attention to Emergency Services Network requirements and the new virtualised/containerised core networks.
Continuously optimising our tenants dimensioning on BT’s infra to ensure we meet our year-on-year efficiency targets for reducing our carbon footprint.

This role can be based in any of the following offices: Birmingham, Bristol, London and follows hybrid working

What you’ll be doing

  • Virtualisation Design and Onboarding, focusing on Openstack, VMware, Redhat, Kubernetes based deployment.
  • Driving deployment quality through regular retrospectives and feedback from operations.
  • Coordinating with Mobile Release management
  • Build key relationships with stakeholders in Operations, Lab and other design teams.
  • Responsible for ensuring designs are security compliant by using security first approach.
  • Proactively ensure that designs are in place to protect against failures, ensure resilience, backup, and contingency measures
  • Ensuring all designs and deployments in line with company policies, procedures, and best practice 
  • Own and manage stakeholder relationships that have direct impact to the design excellence within your area for suppliers and managed service partners, i.e. BT Security, 3rd party vendors and operations.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with your key suppliers ensuring that these can be drawn upon effectively.  
     

Skills Required for the Job

  • Openstack, VMware, Redhat Hypervisor architecture and orchestration expert knowledge.
  • F5 (BIG-IP) Design and implementation skills
  • NSX Firewall Design and implementation skills
  • Infrastructure as code skillset, including GitOps, ansible, python, Jenkins.
  • Knowledge and practical experience for delivering products and services via Agile delivery methodologies.
  • Jira project and confluence experience
  • Multifaceted negotiation techniques for influencing and convincing other teams to changes in technology and methodologies.
  • Mature interpersonal skills for building, maintaining, and leveraging business relationships both internally and externally to BT.
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and company policy in respect to TSA as well of Health and Safety. 
     

Experience You Would Be Expected to Have

  • Subject matter expert in virtualised and containerised infrastructure Design and deployment.
  • Expert knowledge of Openstack, VMware, Redhat OpenShift architecture and orchestration.
  • Expert knowledge of F5 and NSX networking. 
  • Good understanding of Mobile Voice, Data, and subscriber management networks.
  • Good understanding of aspects of network security.
  • Experience of dealing with internal and external business customers, third party suppliers, and providing reliable communication between all parties.
  • Ability to create and implement procedures to deliver best performance and reliable delivery.
