Platform Engineer - Infrastructure, Azure, IaaS, PaaS - West Yorkshire - remote (office 1 day per month) - to £60,000 (DOE)
Global Asset Management client based in Leeds city centre has a superb opening for a Platform Engineer with infrastructure knowledge and experience of Microsoft Azure (PaaS and IaaS to run and deploy software), cloud networking, Kubernetes and ideally Fortigate firewall knowledge to provide full lifecycle production support to development squads, testers and production environments and to work within the cloud Platform Engineering team and be the hands-on subject matter expert for the platform stack - Azure, PowerShell, IIS and Linux.
As a Platform Engineer you will work to deliver an automated approach to infrastructure and software delivery, using appropriate tooling and governance to create repeatable, resilient and controlled deployments supporting the day to day management and control of all environments from development infrastructure and applications right through to Production, ensuring all platforms are meeting agreed service levels and are available to support business processes, including the provision of out of hours on call.
You will provide project and operational support of the all platform services and processes, for Development, Test and Production environments, work in an automation first approach focusing on process efficiency using appropriate tooling to reduce cycle times and improve reliability, audit and traceability for all system deployments across multiple applications. You will setup and configuration of software deployment management, cloud provisioning, and monitoring within cloud and hosted environments and support the development team ensuring all environments are available and in full working order. You will also ensure that Production environments are protected by governance, good practice/process, design and are fit for purpose against agreed SLAs, ensure project and change releases are deployed with the right quality, repeatable between environments without change or modification and deployed to the target environments and ultimately to Production without detriment or issue in agreed timescales.
You will also ensure software and processes are correctly documented to ensure single points of knowledge don't become a problem and that skills are distributed across the team and department, Deliverables/Artefacts as part of any Change/Project are progressed providing appropriate status reporting and updates as requested by the Line/Project/Change Manager and you will take responsibility for design and implement cloud-based architectures, leverage agile development techniques for infrastructure as code creation.
You will have a minimum of 3 years experience in Microsoft Azure engineering utilizing IaaS and PaaS, experience using source code repositories such as Git, demonstrable experience of cloud networking and security device management, e.g. FortiGate, Azure Application Gateway, Web Application Firewalls, experience as an infrastructure, operations or technical expert operating in the space between development and operations and show demonstrable technical knowledge in enterprise system design, capacity, resilience, monitoring, network and performance Management.
