The opportunity
This is a fantastic opportunity for you to work in our Central Technical Organisation function as a Functional Improvement Lead where you’ll be responsible for driving continuous improvement initiatives within the central Project Management Office (PMO) office. This role requires a strong understanding of project management methodologies and a proven track record in implementing process improvement strategies. The role will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement process and digital tools enhancements. The successful candidate will have excellent project management and business change skills, as well as the ability to effectively communicate and influence stakeholders at all levels.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll work with the PMO Specialist – Continuous Improvement and Training to Identify areas of improvement within the central PMO office and across project management processes in addition to;
- Develop and implement process improvement strategies, including defining goals, objectives, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Conduct thorough analysis of existing processes, systems and data to identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement.
- Lead and facilitate workshops and meetings to drive improvement initiatives.
- Develop and maintain process documentation, including project management documentation, gate papers, standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions.
- Monitor and measure the effectiveness of improvement initiatives through data analysis and KPI tracking.
- Provide guidance and support to project managers and team members in implementing improvements.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure alignment and buy-in for improvement initiatives.
- Stay up to date with industry best practices and emerging trends in project management, current system changes and process improvement.
Location: London, Durham or Edinburgh (Hybrid working with travel to offices when required)

What do you need to be great at this role?
You’ll hold a formal Project Management qualification, such as PMI, Prince2, APM PMQ or IPMA level D (Advantageous)
- Proven experience in process improvement, preferably within a project management or PMO environment.
- Strong understanding of project management methodologies, tools, and techniques.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and identify areas for improvement.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
- Ability to facilitate workshops and meetings, and to influence and motivate teams.
- Proficient in data analysis and reporting, with experience in using tools such as Excel, Power BI, or similar.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma or other process improvement methodologies is a plus.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus.
