POLICY AND COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER

Salary: £27,000 - £29,500 per annum pro rata

Reports to: Senior Programme Manager (ICBP)

Department: ​Policy, Information and Communications​

Contract: 6 month fixed-term contract

Hours: ​35 hours per week. Although based in Stratford, London, with hybrid working, this is a role which involves working with international partners in Canada, New Zealand and Western Australia. As such, out-of-hours work will be required in this role. However, we do provide time off in lieu of these instances.

Location: ​Stratford w/ high-flex (1 - 2 days per week in the office)

We have an exciting opportunity for you to join us as a Policy and Communications Officer. You'll be responsible for the delivery of the communication and policy engagement activity for the International Cancer Benchmarking Partnership (ICBP), working closely with the ICBP Senior Managers, to contribute to the delivery of the communications strategy. Further to this, you'll work on the development and dissemination of engaging content for a range of audiences, both within the UK and internationally, including policymakers, clinicians, and academics.

What will I be doing?

• Developing and disseminating engaging and impactful Policy and Communications material for the ICBP
• Engaging with stakeholders across the partnership to disseminate Policy and Communications materials effectively, written materials include the ICBP newsletter, social media and website
• Working with the Programme Officer and liaising with the web and health system engagement team to monitor and improve ICBP's online presence and performance
• Building relationships with Policy and Communications stakeholders
• Proactively gathering insight using a range of methods from ICBP clinical committees, academic leads and other external stakeholders to inform Policy and comms activity
• Supporting the development and delivery elements of the ICBP workshops and showcasing events
• Building and maintaining a solid understanding of ICBP evidence, data and insight
• Playing an active role in relevant ICBP governance groups (including secretariat support), as well as relevant internal CRUK communications and policy groups.

What skills are you looking for?

• Strong verbal and written communication skills (including strong attention to detail), with the ability to articulate complex information clearly and appropriately for a range of different audiences
• Experience of developing communication materials and using a range of methods to engage with difference audiences
• Strong planning and organisational skills, with the ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities
• Effectiveness in planning, delivery and all logistical aspects of meeting management and event coordination, including online events and webinars
• Good interpersonal skills, with the ability to quickly build networks and partnerships with stakeholders
• Experience of providing secretariat support across a project or programme
• Knowledge, and/or experience of working in the health and policy landscape.
