About The Service


An exciting opportunity has arisen for committed individuals with excellent customer service and security skills to join our team. The successful applicants will be a part of the Porter/Security Assistant team based within Outreach or Central Library Hubs

About the job


You will assist in providing a safe, calm and managed environment for both staff and public to enjoy. You will have previous security experience, have confidence in your abilities and professionalism when dealing with escalations.


What We Are Looking For From You


The successful applicants will have previous experience of working in a customer service environment and the ability to adapt quickly.

You will have previous key holding experience as well as basic computer skills to report incidents.

You will be required to work on a rota basis to include Saturdays: shifts will be variable according to needs of the service.

The ability to speak other languages, in particular Welsh, and Community Languages would be an advantage. The successful candidates will also play a lead role in promoting equalities for the service as a whole.

This post is temporary until 31/03/2025.

Internal candidates who wish to apply for this position on a secondment basis must obtain approval prior to application using Form SEC1 (4.C.081). Requests may only be approved by the relevant Director/ Assistant Director/ Chief Officer or senior nominated officer graded no lower than OM2 or in the case of schools based staff the Headteacher / Governing Body.

This salary is subject to the Living Wage supplement, which brings pay rates up to £12.00 per hour (scp 2-4). This supplement will be reviewed in April 2025 and thereafter annually in April. Cardiff Council reserves the right to make any changes to, or removal of, the Living Wage supplement
