Job description

About the role

A fantastic opportunity for a Portfolio & Programme Management Officer has arisen to join our PMO function, based in Bournemouth with an option for hybrid working. You’ll be responsible for providing support to projects, programmes and portfolios, as well as rolling out a best practice approach to change across the business. You’ll ensure adherence to the strategy and compliance to the change requirements across the change environment.

Striving to be an innovative and forward thinking PMO function, you’ll be given the freedom to design and develop new processes and continuously identify ways to improve ways of working. This is a true team environment, where you’ll work with your colleagues to think creatively and consider new ideas to allow the team to be a 'best in class’ function.

As a key member of the PMO and business change community, you will be leading from the front when it comes to transformation; key stakeholders will look to you and therefore you will need to build powerful and lasting relationships. We need you to ensure that the portfolio has a firm vision, and is supported by detailed planning in the short to medium term, while also having a good idea of the longer term opportunities. You’ll have a clear understanding of risks across the Portfolio and ensure appropriate mitigation measures are in place. Engaging with the wider team, you will be responsible for identifying and managing any cross- portfolio dependencies and issues. Working to ensure your portfolio is executed with suitable regard to policies and standards whilst continually seeking ways to improve quality, cost and schedule performance.

About You

When it comes to having an understanding of portfolio, programme or project management, you are a real expert, with a delivery focussed background and a penchant for change. You may have recently worked as a project/programme manager, or in a PMO role, and will be very comfortable with transformation and have a real drive and enthusiasm to deliver and offer continuous improvement. Significant exposure to project management is vital and it goes without saying that your communication and team working skills are exemplary, and you have a proactive approach to your work.

This is a great role for someone who can demonstrate their understanding of the project lifecycle and any challenges a project might face. You should be creative and be able think outside the box, whilst maintaining meticulous attention to detail.

You must be able to maintain strong working relationships, maintaining credibility when working with senior stakeholders. At the same time, you must be a true team player as you work towards a common goal.

We support Hybrid working - but you will be needed in the Bournemouth offices weekly
