You, as the Portfolio Director,will be accountable for the successful delivery of Insurance engagements (consulting engagements, scoped projects, and/or managed teams), and for the profitable growth of the sector within Version 1. The role comprises strategic market engagement, customer relationship management, delivery management and people development.

  • As the Portfolio Director, you will manage the delivery organisation while generally delegating the responsibility for engagements (timeline, scope, budget, customer expectations) and sub-sectors to Portfolio Directors, Delivery Principal(s) or Delivery Manager(s).
  • As the Portfolio Director, you will retain accountability for successful outcomes across the three sides of our Strategic Triangle:
    • Strong Organisation: Commercial outcomes including growth of revenue, gross profit margin, accurate forecasting, and demand-planning, as well as excellent, clean delivery to customers.
    • Customer Success: Customer satisfaction, Sector NPS scores, instilling a customer obsessed disposition, and building long-term, strategic relationships with customers.
    • Empowered People: Direct line management for staff within the FS Management capability, and dotted line management for Digital, Data and Cloud staff operating within the Portfolio. Staff engagement (including quarterly Trust & Empowerment scores) for people working on engagements in your Portfolio.
  • Leverage your existing network within the Sector to help grow and nurture the business.
  • As the Portfolio Director, you will identify, create, and influence new opportunities within your customer accounts and the broader FS market. This includes responsibility for driving pre-sales in conjunction with commercial counterparts.Bid work, proposition development, creating reusable collateral and participating in business development meetings with customers/prospective customers will be required.
  • Working closely with your counterpart in the commercial team, you will proactively drive and capture demand for our Service Lines.
  • This role carries with it the implicit obligation to promote and deliver on both the Portfolio and Version 1 corporate agenda. As a key part of the Digital, Data and Cloud Leadership team, the Portfolio Director will champion our Core Values and will support excellence in operations (reporting, controls, forecasting inputs and overall governance).
  • As the Portfolio Director, you will be expected develop enduring relationships with colleagues and customers. Regular travel within the UK & Ireland, with occasional travel to US & India should be expected.

Responsible for:

  • Excellent, high-quality, on-time, on-budget delivery for all Portfolio engagements.
  • Achievement of agreed FS Strong Organisation (growth, revenue, profitability) targets.
  • Supporting bids and sales activities to drive and secure Portfolio demand and the creation of further opportunities.
  • High levels of customer satisfaction, measured quarterly by Net Promoter Score.
  • Staff retention & engagement including coaching, mentoring and succession planning (measured quarterly) within your Sector.
  • Working with leaders across Digital, Data and Cloud capability pools to forecast demand and plan resourcing, including the careful onboarding and transition of consultants between engagements.
  • Ensuring a smooth, seamless transition into Support / Managed Services when required.
Qualifications
  • Recent, extensive (5+ years) experience working for an IT services consultancy or Systems Integrator, in a senior position with material, growth aligned KPIs, delivering software engineering and cloud transformation services to Insurance customers.
  • Deep subject matter expertise and understanding of the business challenges within the Insurance domains.
  • Track record of driving growth within your customers through credibility-based up and cross-selling of Digital, Data, Cloud and/or managed service capabilities.
  • Track record of winning and retaining new customers.
  • Proven experience managing significant (>€20M per annum) portfolios of work, with accountability for P&L (shadow P&L acceptable) with deep understanding of core commercial KPIs for a consultancy.
  • Experienced in the delivery of diverse technology change programmes to an excellent standard.
  • Commercial: You will understand how to drive successful outcomes against revenue and gross profit growth targets, as well as accurate budgeting and forecasting.
  • Inspiring: you will be leading a team of managers, with many strong individual contributors who will look to you to guide and lead them through times of growth and change. You will be good at mediating through business challenges across delivery, commercial and business support.You will be able to influence those outside of your direct line management.
  • Collaborative: You will build consensus through relationship building and excellent execution. Whilst driving success in your Sector, you will work with peers to support success across the entire delivery organisation.
  • Driven: You will lead the growth agenda in your Sector, in tight collaboration with your commercial counterpart.

Nice to have:

  • Experience working with globally distributed teams, particularly with teams based in India.
  • Good technical fundamentals, with a very good understanding of how to ensure delivery of excellent software.
