Post-16 Participation and Adult Learning Manager

We have a fantastic opportunity available for a Post-16 Participation and Adult Learning Manager to join our friendly team in Children’s Services

As Post-16 Participation and Adult Learning Manager you will lead the teams and partners to ensure a range of suitable education, apprenticeship and training are available to meet post-16 cohort and Adult learners in line with statutory, requirements, functions, and standards.

This role is the key local authority post-16 system link, to ensure effective working links in partnership with education, apprenticeship and training provider including sixth-from and further education colleges. It is a key element of the role to work towards a low NEET rate, in particular of those who have care-experience or with a SEND background.

You will play an integral role in contributing to the Council’s ambition and vision for Wokingham to be ‘a great place to live’ by helping to reduce crime, the fear of crime and contribute to the learning opportunities especially for deprived communities.

Key Responsibilities

  • To plan, develop, and deliver Adult Education that meets the needs of the Wokingham Borough Communities.
  • To enhance and increase post-16 and Adult residents’ access to a participation in learning, with particular emphasis on hard to reach and vulnerable learners, including children in care, care-experienced people, and those with SEND background.
  • To establish strong collaboration with sixth form schools, colleges, training, and employment providers in line with statutory requirements.
  • To lead effective cross team working relationships for seamless system service delivery through linking with SEND and Preparing for Adulthood colleagues, Virtual School colleagues, Place Planning and Sufficiency officer.
  • To ensure service provision supports the council strategies on economic regeneration and community cohesion and link across directorates to co-deliver against these priorities.

 Candidate Requirements

  • Educated to degree level or an equivalent qualification relevant to the area of work.
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to be flexible where needed
  • Ability build and maintain relevant professional partnerships and effective communication with various stakeholders.
  • Innovative in undertaking work related tasks, takes initiative within role boundaries, proactive in working independently and within a team to deliver outcomes in line with timescales.
  • Ability to develop and interpret complex data to determine trends and drive continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrable success in creating and implementing partnerships and participation, working across and with all stakeholders, in particular with adult and young people.
