Salary: Grade 6 - £42,405 to £49,785 per annum, including London Weighting Allowance Building and Campus: King’s Building, Strand Campus Job description We are looking to appoint a Post-doctoral Research Associate to join the NIHR Health Protection Research Unit in Emergency Preparedness and Response (EPR HPRU) to work on an exciting programme of research examining how preparedness, communication preferences, risk perceptions and behavioural responses to health threats vary amongst different groups. Based in The Department of War Studies at King’s College London, the successful candidate will collaborate with Dr Julia Pearce and EPR HPRU colleagues on a project examining the impact of public health communication strategies that are tailored for deprived and minority ethnic groups in the UK. This will primarily involve qualitative data collection and analysis, although there is also the potential to undertake survey research should initial outcomes indicate this approach. This project has been designed to support the UK Health Security Agency’s Delivering Health Equity for Health Security strategy to achieve more equitable outcomes in preparing for, preventing and responding to infectious diseases and environmental hazards. The post-holder will play a significant role in the delivery of the scientific outcomes of the research programme and will play a key role in the day-to-day management of the project. This post sits within the Preparedness theme of the EPR HPRU, which focuses on optimising preparedness of both emergency responders and members of the public for mass emergencies and disasters. Contract type This post will be offered on an a fixed-term contract for 12 months This is a full-time post - 100% full time equivalent Key responsibilities Develop and undertake research of high quality consistent with making an active research contribution in line with Departmental/School/Faculty research strategy. Manage research activities to an agreed timeframe and within a specified budget including data collection and analysis, report writing and academic publications. Co-design, conduct and analyse focus group and interviews. Facilitate collaboration and networking which engages and supports the activities of the project. Write up research findings as policy briefs and for academic publication. Present research findings as required at internal and external meetings and conferences to contribute to the internal and external visibility of the project.
