Job description

This appointment as Post Doctoral Researcher on: AI-enabled Climate-Smart Fertiliser Practice for Sustainable and Resilient Farming represents an exciting new development by the University to build on current research into soil greenhouse gas (GHG) fluxes. They project will field testing an app, based on AI, to identify fertilizer regimes for crops that minimize GHG emission. This is a multi-partner project with Mutus Tech, University of Sheffield and Velcourt allowing the successful candidate to strengthen their professional network.
Suitable candidates will hold a PhD in soil science, agriculture, or environmental science, plus existing knowledge of, or a strong interest in, soil GHG fluxes and the sustainability of crop production. Expertise in data analysis, or evidence of significant interest in this area, is also required. The successful candidate will be working within an academic group including a range of research areas. The candidate will therefore need to be able to work within a diverse team and to communicate effectively with all industry stakeholders, including academics, industry professionals, retailers and farmers. Evidence of research experience, including relevant publications in this or a related area is essential. In addition to delivering this specific research project within the strategic partnership, the postholder will also be expected to present findings at appropriate industry and academic meetings and to publish results in peer-reviewed journals.
