Postdoctoral Researcher Position in Particle Physics at the University of Montreal (ATLAS Group, CERN)
Position Overview :
The ATLAS Group at the University of Montreal invites applications for a postdoctoral researcher position based at CERN. The successful candidate will engage in a broad research program with the ATLAS-Montreal group, including:

  • Detector Development: Participating in the installation and commissioning of the ITk interlock system for the ATLAS tracker upgrade for the High Luminosity LHC. The interlock system ensures the safety of the future ATLAS tracker and is under the responsibility of the Montreal group.
  • Physics analysis: Leading efforts in machine learning applications for LHC data analysis, benefiting from Montreal’s leadership in AI. Fields include electron identification and anomaly detection in new physics searches. The position can include several student supervision opportunities. No prior knowledge in machine learning is required.
  • Operational Support: Contributing to the ATLAS detector operations, such as taking shifts in the control room at CERN.


Qualifications :

  • Recent Ph.D. in particle physics (within the last three years) or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated capability to conduct research, prepare research publications, and present findings at scientific meetings.
