This post is part of a research project funded by the Leverhulme Trust, titled Understanding the biomechanical basis for the origin of Burrowing, which will combine evidence from the study of locomotion in extant taxa, the fossil record, phylogenetics and biophysics simulation to understand the origins and evolution of Burrowing. This post focuses on the locomotion of extant species and the simulation elements of the project.
